Welcome back to Pandora and more dinosaurs and Kaiju please!

May really is a month of ups and downs, weather wise and in the entertainment world. With most of us still reeling from Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, it was tough to pull myself away from the conspiracies and theories to look at what else was going on in the world…

Despite the Disney+ series getting mixed reviews, Moon Knight returns in - Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood #1. A blood moon rises and its contents are black, white and red. A bevy of comicdom’s finest creators put their mark upon the Fist of Khonshu in stories depicted in stark black, white and blood-red! Even Spider-Man himself makes an appearance in this collection!

You know if there’s dinosaurs involved I am here for it - and DC brings Jurassic League #1 to fill the dino shaped hole in my heart as I wait for Jurassic World Dominion. The main trio consists of an infant who escapes the destruction of its home planet and is deposited on Earth to be raised by human parents, a goddess from a lost city who defends truth and a Tyrannosaurus rex dons the visage of a bat to strike fear into evildoers hearts. This heroic trinity, alongside a league of other super-powered dinosaurs, join forces to save a prehistoric Earth from the sinister machinations of Darkseid. Bear witness to a brand-new‚ yet older than time‚ adventure and experience the Justice League as you have never seen them before!

Now for something really beautiful, The Ballad Of Ronan #1. Long ago a war raged to extinguish all magic from this world and magic has not been felt since. But when Aisling, an angry Irish orphan, runs away from foster care, she’s going to discover that the war isn’t over. With the help of an ancient Celtic warrior, a rogue priest and a dark fairy, she will find herself on the run from the darkest creatures of the ages whilst trying to find out where the magic went and how to bring it back! The artwork here is truly breathtaking and I can't wait to get my hands on this!

From the beauty to the beasts, here I have two badass women in new stories to share with you.

Bunny Mask: Hollow Inside - she leaves no marks, her eyes are a white abyss, her name is Bunny Mask, and she’s free from her cave and moving through the city, searching for sickness and enacting her own unfathomable sense of justice.

This creative team has unleashed an aeons old legend upon an unsuspecting world - one that’ll make your most horrific nightmare feel like a walk in the park!

Finally, Grim #1 - discover the world of the afterlife, where Jessica has been recruited as a Reaper, tasked with ferrying countless souls to their final destination.

But unlike the rest of the Reapers, she has no memory of what killed her and put her into this predicament. In order to unravel the mystery of her own demise, she’ll have to solve an even bigger one - where is the actual Grim Reaper ?

The visually stunning trailer for Avatar The Way of Water made its debut this week and is already making waves, James Cameron is of course well renowned as a visionary and this second instalment of the franchise looks to break ground again.

However I am much more interested in Shin Ultraman which I know is contradictory because I regularly complain about there being too many superheroes but the Japanese just do it better! It is the second tokusatsu series to be adapted by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, after Shin Godzilla and Shin Kamen Rider will follow in 2023. It's unlikely that the kaiju will win but…I can live in hope.

The video game-verse has one big release this week - Evil Dead The Game! With Sam Raimi (and Bruce Campbell) being in the spotlight following Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, I guess it is a very well timed release. In this game you can play as the humans or the undead and really mess with people's minds. There are single player and co-op options and it looks like a lot of fun! I can’t remember the last decent co-op game I played!

You may have already played but now, for the 5th anniversary, 11 Bit Studios proudly presents to you This War of Mine: Final Cut in which you experience war not as an elite soldier but rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. Yep, it's as depressing as it sounds! The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle. Final Cut contains all the updates and free expansions released so far and introduces not only a new scenario but also expands all scenarios with the locations known from Stories DLCs - even if you don’t own those. In short words - that means you can now experience lots of never-seen-before playthroughs and struggle with new challenges.

Following its predecessor's footsteps (Salt and Sanctuary), Salt and Sacrifice hits a similar 2D Soulslike feel. After perishing in the opening moments, your character becomes Spellmarked, an entity that treads the line between life and death by the power of magic. You are also an Inquisitor tasked with hunting and devouring the hearts of dangerous Mages, the giant monster bosses you'll fight throughout the game. It's all very cliche for the genre but does its job to get you into the world and track down Mages and the character design is very sweet.

So what are you most looking forward to from this week's releases? War on humans, war on zombies or war on kaiju?
