The Unbearable Weight of Nick Cage’s face but at least we have Love, Death and Robots Vol 3!
Well that's another bank holiday gone - obviously I spent it hyped about announcing this year’s best release update - Daughters of Albion is now on Kickstarter! I know you have all been following the updates and have been eager to see the finished product - well now we can share some images with you and I am so excited to see what you all think! Check out the variant covers and exclusive extras we have for you!
With that in mind I wanted to check out some perhaps lesser known comics also launching this week. David Byrne's Cancelled comes from Scout Studio who are responsible for some of my favourite horror comic stories this year and Cancelled looks to join that list. Following the downward spiral of washed up kids show host Larry who tries to seek revenge on the local town by destroying their TV tower but ends up being sucked into the airwaves, the cover for this is breathtaking and drew me in straight away, I will be getting this on release day!
Advent Comics brings us The Regulators which chronicles the adventures of Advent’s most powerful super-team! A threat from another dimension forces Mystic the Mighty Mage to gather the world’s greatest heroes to save creation, if they can come together without killing each other first! If you’re not yet bored of the super hero sagas this might be worth checking out!
Slightly different to the things I usually bring you is the anthology Bounce House Bizarre by artist and writer Tony McMillen. Introducing Grapeshot, a man of lethal leisure, in his first lurk and merc, sexy crime adventure.
Next a violent romp through feudal Japan with an anachronistically armed crimefighter called Sawn-Off Shogun, co-created and featuring art by Nicola Bonometto.
Followed by a tale of teenagers sneaking into the movies that takes an unexpected turn which is titled A Theater Near You, co-created and featuring art by Ben Granoff. Who doesn’t love a good anthology to keep us busy?
Finally, and even more obscure is Secret History of War on Weed by Image Comics. Set in 1985, the war against cannabis farmers is hot and sees the deployment of the biggest tool in the armed forces: Scotch McTiernan whose slogan is “If it weeds…we can kill it.”
Scotch puts his boots on the ground and does what he does best—but what happens when he gets high for the first time? Laughter, tears, action, plus an activity page!
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to organisations dedicated to helping casualties of America’s drug war. A fun and very unique read that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good!
This week brings about one of my worst nightmares, a Nick Cage movie where he plays himself…that's right,I have an unexplainable hatred for Nicholas Cage and someone has encouraged him to star in a movie where he plays himself. Annoyingly The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent actually looks pretty good…
I was also pleasantly surprised by the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer - Natalie Portman is just *chefs kiss* and I am all about anything with an 80’s vibe!
However my personal favourite TV announcement this week is definitely Love, Death and Robots Vol 3! What an absolutely chaotic trailer, this anthology series brings together elements from science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy to craft a beautifully deformed genre beast all its own and the trailer teases some continuation from season 1 episodes which I can NOT wait for!
Exciting news for gamers, Zombie Army 4 Dead War is coming to Nintendo Switch. This third person shooter has been out on XBOX and Playstation for a couple of years now but it's great to see some more adult games utilising the Nintendo Switch.
Meta Quest also had their gaming showcase live stream, announcing new VR content on their Twitch, did you catch it on Wednesday? If you’re an Oculus player it was a big highlight for the first half of the year.
Surely I am not the only one with a hatred for a celebrity for no discernible reason? Who grinds your gears ? Let me know in the comments!

I’m soooooo excited for Love, Death & Robots! The first two seasons were superb! The first season was epic (I loved ‘Sonny’s Edge’, and ‘The Witness’, ‘Suits’, and ‘Beyond the Aquila Rift‘ were specific highlights!), but I was a smidge disappointed in season 2. the trailer for season 3 looks fab though!
