Samurai Rabbits and Green Ghosts to boot!

April is coming to a close which means another bank holiday! Of course we are going to need something to keep our thumbs from growing idle…I’m going to be completely selfish this week as there are some new release comic books I'd like to share with you, purely because I like them!

Starting with my favourite Marvel Comics family, The X-Men and new comic Knights of X where Mutants are hated and feared once again but in a familiar yet distant timeline. The gates to Otherworld are closed—and Captain Britain is trapped on the wrong side! Merlyn and his right-hand man, King Arthur, are now in control of Lunatic Citadel. Betsy Braddock is Otherworld’s only hero—and to save her people, Betsy must recruit a round table of her own. The Knights of X gather to restore the rightful order and rescue desperate mutants—but their quest is about to get so much bigger than that. This is the era of destiny and the fate of Otherworld lies at the centre of mutantkind’s future.

Ever the lover of a good spooky story (if you’ve seen my Haunted London videos you will know that’s both true and false equally) British Paranormal Society spoke to me and follows members Simon Bruttenholm and Honora Grant who arrive at Noxton together, but with separate goals: Honora hopes to uncover information on the town's strange traditions, while Simon is searching for his missing assistant. But their separate investigations lead down the same twisted path that hides a dark secret behind Noxton's innocent facade! A spooky new tale that actually falls within the Hellboy universe!

Now to talk about my main boy, Big G in another new series - Gozilla Rivals Vs King Ghidorah. When Mars invades Earth, Godzilla surfaces from Tokyo Bay and is pulled into battle. Captured and taken by the Martians, Godzilla is forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena, against a somewhat familiar enemy…. I haven't read this cover to cover yet and I am hopeful it isn't TOO cheesy, as soon as aliens are involved it can go either way...

Finally, a good vampire flick of course! - Blood Stained Teeth written by Christian Ward, the Eisner Award-winning co-creator of ODY-C, Invisible Kingdom, and Machine Gun Wizards who returns to Image Comics with an all-new ongoing series —a fast-paced crime saga with fangs!

Atticus Sloane—misanthrope, criminal, asshole, and vampire—lives in a world where blood isn’t the only thing vamps crave, and for the right price, he’ll make you a vampire too. After all, immortality isn’t cheap! Vampires is a genre that gets rinsed and repeated all the time so I am always looking for a new take on the legend and this might just be it!

If you’re a fan of Kung Fu Panda, how about a Samurai Rabbit? Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles looks great fun and it's a shame it hasn't had more press . He leads a ragtag team Yuichi leads a gang of misfit heroes including a roguish bounty hunter, a cunning ninja, an acrobatic pickpocket and a faithful pet lizard as he battles depth-charging moles, metal-tipped winged bats, and monsters from another dimension, all in the pursuit to become the best samurai Usagi.

We also have Green Ghost & The Masters of the Stone featuring Danny Trejo who seems to take on any project but never lets us down! This is the untold story of the true Mayan Apocalypse that has so far been misinterpreted. A secret group of Mexican superheroes, known as El Trio de la Luz, are forced by destiny to include their adopted gringo into their group to join the fight to save humanity. Will the car salesman and local TV personality carry his weight and transform from the Gringo into the Green Ghost?

The big announcement this week? Director Matt Reeves confirms Robert Pattinson is returning as the caped crusader for Batman 2…I have mixed emotions on this, whilst I enjoyed his Batman I am not convinced by his Bruce Wayne. I'm hopeful the character will grow and become the charismatic and refined Bruce I expect….what do you think?

I was also looking forward to the Netflix adaptation of Heartstopper although 5 episodes in and I'm really struggling to connect with the two lead roles, whilst the story itself is beautiful and probably hits hard for so many struggling with their own battles of sexuality I'm just not sure these actors are capturing the essence of the emotion behind it, which is weird because its getting such high reviews. Maybe I need to watch it again…but I'll definitely stick with it to the end.

Did any of you unfortunate souls play The Stanley Parable back in 2011? One of those wildly unsettling platform games that you could lose yourself in whilst somehow not having a clue what you're doing, now it’s getting a revamp across all platforms in The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Am I going to hurt myself playing it again? Of course! And I would highly recommend you give it a go too!

If you prefer something a little easier on the brain, Unsouled is an action RPG where players don the armour of a fallen knight. In this strange land of the undead, players fight to uncover the mystery of the strange land, and perhaps a means to achieve redemption in death. This is coming to Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch and Steam this week and whilst the graphics aren't all that it could be just enough to keep your idle hands occupied!

Finally we have Dungeon Defenders: Going Rogue for if you want to play with friends - yes nerds have friends too! Protect your crystals, form powerful towers and face off against devastating enemies. There’s also a progression system to unlock new items, a shop and even a forge!

So how are you planning on spending your bank holiday? What will you be wrapped up binge watching or reading? Let us know in the comments!
