WILD NEWS ROUNDUP

Throwing some love at fact and fiction productions this month!

This week we celebrated Valentine's day, which most importantly means Pancake Day is fast approaching! I hope your week has been full of love and laughter, whether that is with a significant other/others or making sure you appreciate yourself a little more!

The comic book releases this week have been drumming up some warm fuzzy feelings!

I wanted to start with a very special release from Marvel to honour Black History Month - Marvel Voices: Legacy - which consists of seven thrilling stories.

Starting with Natacha Bustos who makes her writing debut with a gorgeous tale of Wakanda! Incomparable novelist Victor Lavelle brings a new version of Moon Girl, Jessica Jones Writer J.Holtham explores the legacy of Sam Wilson and Amazing Spider-Man Scribe Cody Ziglar visits Marvel's Black heroes in a celebration of Luke Cage’s 50th Anniversary! Featuring a dazzling array of stories by both new and established creators - don't let this one pass you by!

Who is this new Iron Fist #1?! When demons begin to attack cities around the world, a mysterious figure in a familiar mask appears, hands blazing with the Chi of Shou-Lao…who is this new Iron Fist? And does his power really come from the Dragon of K'Un-Lun or from something far more sinister?

After a massive solar storm hits planet Earth, destroying all technology in its way all global communications were lost. Nuclear reactors collapsed, the climate suffered drastic changes and all financial systems disappeared. The survivors had to adapt to this harsh new reality. This is the background of Quad #1 which follows a mechanic named Terah and her black cat Elvis (so obviously I am in!) who accept a quick and simple repairing job in the middle of nowhere. Intriguing, isn't it?

My personal favourite this week though is probably Fictionauts #1 from Red 5. They’ve battled Moby Dick and matched wits with Dickens, it's the genre hopping heroes of Hypercity, the FICTIONAUTS! Fantasy is real business for this team as they scour novel worlds to right dangerous anomalies and preserve the balance between reality and imagination. But when a new threat tries to bring down the barriers between the two worlds the squad has to jump to our defence!

For something a little more serious check out The Lion and the Eagle which is set during World War II and tells the story of the Chindits, a British special forces unit deployed during the Japanese occupation in 1944. It follows two veterans of the British retreat in 1942, who are eager to reclaim the colony. Neither the jungle nor the foe are any less savage, and when the shooting starts and the Japanese descend on the smaller British forces, every man will be tested to his limit.

Whilst we might have been quiet on the movie/series scene, it has been a week of top trailers to tantalise the senses!

Check out my favourites here:

I also found updates for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (I'm still apprehensive about the 2nd movie!), surprise news of a Bioshock production on Netflix (although it's unclear if this will be a movie or series) and Chris Pine makes a return with Star Trek 4! Live Long and Make Sequels!

And we know March is bringing some epic movies our way…

On the gaming front lets face it, the only game we are all writing love letters for this week is Horizon Forbidden West, a majestic open world frontier filled with new mysterious threats. Mathijs de Jonge (the game director) has stated that this region spans from what was once Utah to the coast of the Pacific Ocean and bears similarity to the Western Highland from Egyptian mythology, where the land of the dead was thought to be in the west, where the sun sets.

XBOX and Playstation users got three other titles this week too!

I am in love with the shape of Dynasty Warriors 9 game which gives a strategic makeover with tactical castle sieges and a more linear structure. It might not be the most exciting release when you are 9 games in, but the character designs are always beautiful which captivates me every time!

The latest entry in the beloved fighting game franchise King of Fighters, XV, sees a move to Unreal Engine and the debut of GGPO rollback networking for online play. Giving new and old users something refreshing to experience.

Finally, and the one I am currently enamoured with - Martha is Dead, a dark first-person psychological thriller, set in 1944 Italy against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict between German and Allied forces. As the story begins, the body of a woman (Martha), is discovered and players - in the role of her twin sister - must deal with the repercussions of the murder whilst the horror of war draws ever closer...

To fill the void in my heart there is a new Japanese RPG on Playstation 4,5 and Nintendo Switch called Monark which looks absolutely beautiful. Dive into a dark realm where reality and the self-collide. The mysterious worlds are brought to life in a dark neo-fantasy style, with intricate character designs and evocative settings. In this game you will find typical RPG elements such as skill grinding and the ability to customise the appearance and abilities of your Fiends. Unlock different Fiends to command in battle, and use the freeform tactical system to position your units and unleash destruction upon your enemies.

Whatever you are loving this week I would love to hear about it! Maybe you’re cuddled up with a new series you are infatuated with? Or a comic I may have missed off my hot list? Let us know!
