Girls run the comic book world whilst we are Turning Red on the big screen, basically my dream week for releases!

It’s a week for women in the comic book world it would seem, with our beloved Gwen Stacey getting a fresh story in Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse! However we also have a surprise entry from the original bombshell herself, Bettie Page! Bettie Page: Alien Agenda follows our vintage vixen as duty calls and she is summoned (for some reason) to investigate Roswell. Armed with a team and a spaceship, she dares to go where no woman has gone before!

Slightly more up my street is a new comic run, Van Helsing: Hour of the Witch! Liesel Van Helsing has gone against almost every type of monster and creature that the universe can throw at her, and she's out-smarted, out-scienced, or overpowered just about each one of them. But what's coming for her next goes beyond anything she could prepare for, our female Van Helsing takes on a foe stronger than she has ever faced!

Hit Me is a high octane crime thriller about professional badass Lulu. Navigating the dark underbelly of of 90s Atlantic City, she must stay one step ahead of her pursuers after witnessing the murder of her regular clients . Our street born savvy is about to embark on the longest - and probably last - night of her life.

Following the female theme, Marvel gifts us the phenomenal Women of Marvel #1. The talented women creators who have made Marvel the powerhouse that it is, take on fan-favourite female characters within the Marvel Universe. From seasoned veterans to up-and-coming talent, this cast of writers and artists gives their own spin on beloved heroines and I am SO here for it!

And finally my personal favourite, Radiant Red #1 is a criminal-turned-matter-absorbing superhero which is as dope as it sounds. However during the day she poses as a diligent school teacher with a loving family and fiance.. However things start to turn weird when reporters and strange kids start turning up in her classroom and the pillaged $2.5 million she has stashed away in her apartment is starting to cause some sleepless nights. It’s time for our callous culprit to decide who she is...before the world decides for her!

I have a weakness for anime girls with cat ears (I am sure that is universal…. don’t @ me, especially as this time the ears turned out to be hair bows) so I am always intrigued by the artwork on Japanese fighting games. Phantom Breaker Omnia launches on all platforms this week. This instalment features 2 guest characters, Kurisu Makise from Steins Gate and Rimi Sakihata from Chaos Head, as well as two brand new characters created specifically for Phantom Breaker Omnia.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is a non-combat third-person “relaxploration ” adventure, set in the sunken ruins of a beautiful world. Take on the role of Miku and Taku – one cursed with a mysterious power that she wants to use for good, the other determined not to let it tear them apart as they go on the hunt for salvation. The art style of this game is truly beautiful and I can't wait to play it!

With a slightly creepier vibe, especially for the Nintendo Switch, Ashwalkers: A Survival Journey has you travel across a post-apocalyptic wasteland, scavenging for food and fuel as your party searches for the fabled ‘Dome of Domes’ to keep your settlement alive. Whilst it might seem like a premise repeated over and over again, I urge you to check out the trailer to see why this is so different to anything you might have played before…

The big news (at least for me!) this week was the release of Turning Red, straight to Disney+. Set in Toronto, the movie features around a young girl named Meilin who one morning surprisingly turns into a giant red panda (THE DREAM), later learning that her ancestors have a shared history with the species. It is the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman and the second to feature an Asian lead character after Bao.

And I know we have all been waiting for ANOTHER Paranormal Activity movie…right? Well it's here now in the form of ‘The Other Side’ and a group of college friends who find out the gruesome past of their house and the connection to the 1988 incidents.

Netflix presents the handsome rogue Ryan Reynolds alongside Mark Ruffalo in The Adam Project. A time travelling sci-fi flick with a lot of heart where a young boy finds his older self hiding in his shed and the two embark on a mission to set things right and ultimately save the world. Imagine meeting your future self and them being a total d**k…actually. Quite possible.

In a week dominated by female characters, who are your favourite female creators? Let us know in the comments!
